Note: The fine art department chair from Central Gwinnett HS and Phoenix HS should notify the GCPS Foundation office when the selected projects (three per school) are ready for pickup.
Award Announcement: The six student winners and single scholarship recipient will be announced in November 2013. We will ask all winners to submit a short paragraph describing the inspiration for their work and professional aspirations.
Dedication Ceremony: Late January 2014 (date TBD) at Gwinnett Clinic Lawrenceville Main, 475 Philip Blvd., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Teachers, parents, and students will be invited.
How: Art teachers from Central Gwinnett HS and Phoenix HS will select three projects (one per student, three per school) by a GCPS senior graduating in May 2014 for The Gwinnett Clinic Excellence in the Arts Exhibit and Scholarship. Please note that images must be neutral in content – politics, religion, etc., and that both the GCPS Foundation and The Gwinnett Clinic reserve the right to reject images perceived as controversial.
The six projects will be professionally matted and framed and will be exhibited at Gwinnett Clinics offices throughout the metro area for patients and staff to admire. One student artist will be selected as an overall winner for the first annual $500 Gwinnett Clinic Excellence in the Arts Scholarship. The overall winner will be selected by Gwinnett Clinic. Selection criteria will be the piece of art, GPA, and SAT or ACT score.
